At The SMSF Tree, we provide independent SMSF auditing services, separate from accounting or taxation services. As a registered SMSF auditor with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), we ensure objectivity, compliance, and adherence to professional standards.
Our SMSF auditing services are typically provided in collaboration with accounting practices that manage SMSF accounting and taxation.

Our core responsibilities include:
- Annual Financial and Compliance Audit
- Audit Reporting
- Identifying and Reporting Contraventions
- Maintaining Professional Standards
Annual Financial and Compliance Audit
We conduct a thorough annual audit of your SMSF’s financial records and operations. This includes reviewing the accuracy of financial statements and ensuring compliance with superannuation laws and regulations.
Audit Reporting
After completing the audit, we provide trustees with the Self-Managed Superannuation Fund Independent Auditor’s Report (NAT 11466), offering a detailed assessment of the fund’s financial position and compliance.
Identifying and Reporting Contraventions
If we identify any contraventions of superannuation laws during the audit, we are required to report these breaches to the ATO using the Auditor/Actuary Contravention Report (ACR).
Maintaining Professional Standards
As Chartered Accountants, we adhere to Australian Auditing Standards and the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants. This ensures that our audits are conducted with independence, competence, and the highest level of professional conduct.
No Financial Advice Provided
At The SMSF Tree, we focus exclusively on providing high-quality SMSF accounting, taxation, auditing, and establishment services. Please note that we do not offer financial, investment, or retirement planning advice. Our role is to ensure that your SMSF is set up correctly, operates in compliance with relevant regulations, and meets all statutory requirements.
Any investment decisions, including the selection of assets or strategies for your SMSF, should be made in consultation with a qualified financial planner or advisor who can provide tailored advice based on your personal financial goals and circumstances.
By separating our services from financial advice, we maintain a clear and independent role, ensuring that you receive the highest level of objectivity and compliance in managing your SMSF.
